ATTENTION OWNERS OF 2001 – 2008 Volkswagens:
Voluntary Emissions Service Action – Ignition Coils

What is the problem?
Vehicles affected by this action may have ignition coils that could malfunction under certain conditions. If this happens, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will illuminate to let you know that the vehicle may experience some deterioration in performance. Please refer to your vehicle owner’s manual for additional information when the MIL comes on, and if necessary, you should take your vehicle to the nearest authorized Volkswagen dealer for diagnosis and repair as soon as possible. In some cases, a malfunctioning ignition coil may cause a vehicle to exceed Federal and/or California/Provincial emissions standards.

What is the repair?
Boston Volkswagen will inspect and, as necessary, replace the ignition coils in affected vehicles. This work will be performed at no cost to you.

Reimbursement for Prior Coil Replacement
If you paid for ignition coil replacement prior to this program, please apply for reimbursement via First-Class mail. Simply click on the link below to view and print the required form. It provides you with the terms for reimbursement and simple instructions on how to apply. We will be pleased to receive your reimbursement request.

Customers who receive reimbursement will still be eligible for the inspection and, if necessary, installation of new ignition coils in their vehicles once parts become available.

The 2010 Golf and GTI are coming!!!

The All-New Golf and GTI are almost here, including the new Golf TDI with the impressive 2.0L TDI clean diesel engine!

The all-new Golf and GTI have been designed and engineered to be more sporty and agressive , boasting a new shoulder line that makes the cars appear lower to the ground. Less round lines and more angled taillights add to this theme.

In addition to the dramatically re-designed exterior, the interior of the Golf and GTI have received numerious upgrades. The dashboard, gauges and air vents are all new. Base seats on both cars have enhanced bolsters to make them sportier. A trip computer is also standard equipment.

The combination of these exterior and interior enhancements, as well as the solid and "fun to drive" performance, are what earned the new Golf the title of "2009 World Car of the Year!"

GTI and Golf TDI go even further with standard touch screen Premium 8 radio, MDI with iPod cable and 17" wheels. Optional Bi-Xenon headlamps rounds out the list of innovative features.

[Safety] Stories from the Drivers.

Here in the Internet Department we‘re always looking for those interesting stories that people share with us. When it comes to Volkswagens and the experiences that our customers have had, I always find it interesting how so many people are such dedicated and loyal customers and the path that brought them to be this dedicated. The most interesting thing is that it's for multiple reasons. Some it's the drive, some the dependability, some the customer service. In this case, it is the unsurpassed safety of our favorite German vehicles.

I recently met one of our newest return customers, Martina and Hugh of Newton. They shared the following images and story about an accident Martina was involved in back in November of 2003. She told me how the person behind her “rear-ended” her going 30mph in her 2000 Volkswagen GTI and literally pushed her underneath a truck that was waiting for the traffic light in front of her.

It is one of those stories that when her husband, Hugh explained the phone call he received from Martina shortly after it happened, I personally thought about how lucky we really are to have such safety in a vehicle. That may sound like a promotion for our vehicles, but it makes me feel better knowing that my wife is driving behind the wheel of this same safety.

When I asked Martina if she had any words to share, her response was “don’t talk on the phone while you’re driving”
